Everyone, at some point in their life, has dreamed of being somebody special, somebody big. I mean, who hasn’t fantasized about being the one who makes it big? Who hasn’t dreamed of being the homecoming queen, or king? And how many times have we dreamed of being rich, successful, or in happy, blissful relationships?
Often, we dream big dreams and have great aspirations. Unfortunately, our dreams remain just that – dreams. And our aspirations tend to fade away along with all of the other insecurities we may have.
This is always a sad turn of events in one’s life. Instead of us being fully aware of just what magic this wonderful existence has to offer, we get caught up in the humdrum of living from day to day just barely existing.
But, in reality, life does not have to be this way at all. We could all, live, feel and simply be so much better, if only we learned to focus on our unlimited potential and aim higher.
The most common problem with people achieving their goals is facing the twisted reality of the impossible. Yes, the word impossible gets our minds twisted into a way of feeling stuck and unworthy. Most people get hung up thinking I can’t do this. It’s too hard. It’s too impossible. How can I possibly do this?
However, let’s get real, if that were everyone’s mindset, there would be no inventions, no innovations, and no breakthroughs in human accomplishment.
“Remember that scientists were baffled when they took a look at the humble bumblebee. Theoretically, they said, it was impossible for the bumblebee to fly. Unfortunately for the bumblebee, no one has told it so. So fly it does”. – Unknown
On the other hand, some people spend most of their days daydreaming about their desired life and not taking any steps upon acting on them. The result? Broken dreams, and tainted aspirations.

If we set ourselves up with limiting beliefs, self-doubt, and destructive assumptions, we will never be able to break past what we may deem impossible. Setting goals too far out into the sky is not the issue here, it is setting those goals and not believing in the ability to achieve them.
Try this technique. Take a piece of paper and write down some goals in your life. Under one header, make a list of things ‘you know you can do’. Under another header, write down the things ‘you might be able to do.’ And under one more header, list the things that that you may believe are ‘impossible for you to do.’
Now, the goal is to, look at all the headers, and strive every day to accomplish what is under the things labeled ‘you know you can do’. Check them off as you accomplish each one. Pat yourself on the back because no accomplishment is too little.
Then, as you slowly are able to check all of your goals under the first heading, then move on to tackling the goals under the next header – ‘you might be able to do.’ Again, give yourself a pat on the back or a small reward for accomplishing those goals as well.
As you begin to check off those items, you should begin to see a boost in your confidence as far as what you are capable of achieving. Now glance at the ‘impossible’ list and begin to one by one move each goal over to the ‘you might be able to do’. This will refocus your brain into now seeing that this thing can actually be accomplished.
You know what to do next 😉
As you gracefully float through this process, you will find out that the goals you may have once thought were impossible, now become easier to achieve. And the impossible begins to seem possible. What a breath for fresh air, huh?
You see, the technique here is to dream big and not limit yourself, but also for one to see what they are ultimately capable of.
Those who just dream of a goal without taking the first step, often end up disappointed and disillusioned.
On the other hand, if you told someone a hundred years ago that it was possible for a man to be on the moon, they would laugh in your face. If you had told them about computers, cell phones, and high definition, they would say you were out of your mind. But, through unwavering faith and perseverance, these once-seemed impossible dreams, are now realities.
So the moral of this blog post is to, dream on friend! Don’t get caught up with all of the crummy details that hold us back. We all have them and feel them. But, the goal is to think big, no matter what, and work hard to attain those dreams.
As you lay one brick at a time, remember you are progressing and building something great. Soon, you will begin to see the impossible begin to unfold into amazing possibilities.
